ESERC Joins ENSACA and Partners to Commemorate the 2019 World AIDS Day in Enugu State

The Economic and Social Empowerment of Rural Communities (ESERC), in collaboration with the Enugu State Agency for the Control of AIDS (ENSACA) and other key partners, participated in the 2019 World AIDS Day Commemoration held on December 1, 2019, in Enugu State.

The global theme for the 2019 commemoration, “Communities Make the Difference,” recognized the vital role that communities play in the response to HIV/AIDS through advocacy, awareness, prevention, treatment support, and the promotion of inclusive health services.

The event brought together government agencies, civil society organizations, healthcare professionals, development partners, youth groups, and community representatives to reaffirm their collective commitment to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic and improving the lives of people living with HIV.

As part of the commemoration, participants engaged in awareness campaigns, educational activities, and stakeholder interactions aimed at promoting HIV prevention, encouraging voluntary testing and counselling, reducing stigma and discrimination, and increasing access to treatment and support services. The programme also emphasized the importance of community ownership and collaboration in achieving sustainable progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

ESERC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote public health, social inclusion, and community empowerment. The organization recognizes that ending HIV/AIDS requires strong partnerships, informed communities, and sustained advocacy to ensure that no one is left behind.

By joining hands with ENSACA and other stakeholders, ESERC continues to contribute to building healthier communities through education, awareness, and collaborative action. The successful commemoration served as another important step toward strengthening community participation and advancing the shared goal of an HIV-free future.

Together, we can make a difference by empowering communities, promoting awareness, and ensuring equitable access to prevention, treatment, care, and support for all.
